UK AI search visibility partner

AI search visibility partner with an in-house technical expert, based in the UK

By Olly, founder of AEOscore, AEO consultant and full-stack developer, 20+ years in search9 min read

Which UK agencies offer AI search visibility with in-house technical experts?

AEOscore is a UK-based answer engine optimisation partner that combines AI visibility scoring with an in-house technical expert who implements the fixes himself, alongside other UK specialists such as Tilio, Rank4AI, Found and Varn. AEOscore, run from Cheltenham by Goreblimey Ltd, scores your AI visibility across six engines and then the same in-house expert who built the scanner implements the fixes on your site. Most rivals sell a dashboard and leave the work to you, or sell the work on someone else's dashboard; we built the scanner and do the work ourselves.

The team

One in-house expert, six disciplines

Olly, the named founder of AEOscore, does the technical and content implementation directly from Cheltenham, with no outsourcing or offshoring, and you work with him by name from the first call to the last report.

Olly

Founder of AEOscore; AEO consultant and full-stack developer

20+ years in search, 15 years running Goreblimey Ltd

The technical team is one person: the one who wrote the AEOscore software. He runs your scans, reads the results and makes the changes to your site. There is no account manager between you and the work, and nothing is offshored or subcontracted.

Back-end engineering
Since 2011 at Goreblimey; the AEOscore app itself
Wrote and runs the AEOscore scanning and scoring software: the schedulers that query six engines, the mention detection, the scoring model, the database and the API. Fixes server-side issues on client sites: crawler access rules, redirects, headers, sitemaps and rendering that hides content from AI crawlers.
Front-end implementation
Since 2011; 15 years of client sites
Builds and edits the actual pages: direct-answer sections, comparison and pricing pages, clean HTML headings, internal linking, plain-text tables engines can read. Works on the platform your site already runs on and hands the changes back documented.
Technical SEO
More than 20 years
Two decades of getting UK businesses found in search, from Cheltenham independents to blue-chip international companies whose search he still looks after. Crawlability, indexation, site architecture, structured data hygiene, Search Console and GA4: the foundation AEO sits on.
AEO (answer engine optimisation)
Since 2024, when AI Overviews reached the UK
Builds prompt panels from real buyer questions, reads how each engine answers them, and turns every gap into a written fix, whether that is a page to create, a fact to correct or a third-party source to get onto. Runs the same discipline on aeoscore.co.uk itself, alongside client sites, so the method is tested on our own numbers.
Security and cyber
Since 2011, on every client build
Runs AEOscore as single-tenant instances on AWS London, magic-link sign-in with no passwords stored, and a published security page listing every subprocessor. On client sites: keeps the changes we make from opening a hole, and never asks for more access than the fix needs.
LLMs and AI systems
5+ years of AI work; six engines in production
Five-plus years building with AI across client projects of every kind, from LLM integrations and automation to classification, extraction and content pipelines, well before AEO existed as a discipline. Today that means the OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Perplexity APIs in production every week: how each engine retrieves, what it cites and how its answers differ for the same UK buyer question, which is what tells us which fix moves which engine. He has also integrated AI into companies' own systems and workflows, so if the visibility work surfaces a wider AI need, that is help you can ask for too.

Plenty of tools can score your AI visibility. Someone still has to change the site, so we kept that part in-house.

UK B2B buyers ask UK questions. The person changing your pages should know what a Cheltenham accountant or a Leeds broker actually gets asked.

Scanner vs partner

What the difference means in practice

AEOscore is both: a free AI visibility scanner and a UK in-house technical specialist who fixes the gaps the scan finds, so you can start with the score alone and add the fixing when you want it done.

The method

The AEOscore Loop

Scan, plan, fix, prove: four steps, repeated every month on the same prompts, so every change gets a measured before-and-after.

A panel of up to 40 real buyer questions runs against ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode every week, and every day on the done-for-you tier. We record whether you are named, where you rank in the answer, who is named instead, and which pages each engine cited. A crawlability check per bot runs alongside.

Output: AEO score, gap list, rival radar, cited sources

Repeats monthly on the same prompts

What we fix

What gets fixed, step by step

A partner fixes AI crawler access, llms.txt, page and content structure so answers can be extracted cleanly, entity and internal linking, the third-party sources AI engines cite about you, and the wrong facts those sources repeat.

  1. 1

    AI crawler access rules

robots.txt checked per bot: GPTBot, OAI-SearchBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and the rest. A blocked crawler means that engine cannot read a word you publish, so this is fixed first, usually a two-line change, then re-tested.

  2. 2 · housekeeping

    llms.txt and plain-HTML housekeeping

An llms.txt that lists your key pages in one place, a clean sitemap, and content served as real HTML rather than rendered only by JavaScript. Quick to do and worth doing once. Few engines honour it yet, so we file it under housekeeping.

  3. 3

Page and content structure so answers are extractable

This is the biggest lever you control. Each page that should answer a buyer question gets a direct answer in its first sentence, one clear H1, headings that are the questions, plain-text tables for prices and comparisons, and dated facts. Engines quote what they can extract cleanly and skip what they cannot.

  4. 4

    Entity and internal linking

Making it unambiguous who you are: consistent name, location and description across your own pages, an about and facts page engines can cite, disambiguation from namesakes, and internal links that connect the pages answering related questions.

  5. 5

    Sources and citation building

The directories, roundups, comparison posts and forum threads each engine cited instead of you, listed with what to do on each: claim the listing, request inclusion, answer the thread, correct the entry. Third-party mentions move answers more than your own pages do, and take longest, so they start early.

  6. 6

    How third-party sites describe you

Where an engine repeats an old price, a dead product or a rival's claim, we find the page it learned that from and get it corrected, and put the current facts on your own site so the engine has a better source next time it refreshes.

  7. 7 · housekeeping

    Schema markup, as housekeeping only

Organization, FAQPage and Article markup keep your pages tidy and machine-readable and we add them as basic technical housekeeping. Schema is not an AI visibility lever: it does not, on its own, earn a citation, and we will not sell it to you as one.

How we measure

Six engines, one prompt panel, every week

AEOscore tracks brand presence and citations across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, on every tier, with one prompt panel run against all six, weekly on Monitor and daily on the done-for-you tier.

Engines tracked

ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode.

How prompt sets are built

Prompt panels are built from real buyer questions in your category: what your customers type, in their words, from supplier searches and comparisons to reputation questions about you, up to 40 active prompts, agreed with you before the first scan and adjusted as the answers move.

Cadence

Scans on every tier, weekly on Monitor and daily on the done-for-you tier, with identical prompts against all six engines, so movement is measured rather than sampled.

What a monthly report contains

  • Your AEO score this month against last, per engine
  • Prompts where you are named, where you are not, and who is named instead
  • The fixes made this month and their before-and-after verdicts
  • Sources the engines cited, and which of them you are now on
  • New rivals the engines have started naming
  • What next month's work is for

How long until AI search visibility improves?

Most sites see measurable movement in AI answer visibility within 4 to 12 weeks, first on Perplexity and Google AI Overviews which refresh fastest, depending on site size, existing authority and how competitive the prompt set is.

Do you work with agencies?

Yes, AEOscore provides white-label AEO auditing, reporting and, where wanted, implementation for UK agencies reselling AI visibility to their clients, priced per client site.

Goreblimey Ltd was established in 2011 in Cheltenham as a full-stack design and development agency, registered in England, company number 07582417, and search has run through that work from the start. AEOscore is its product: the software, the scans and the fixing all come from the same office.

Who this is for

B2B teams who can see the answers moving

We work with B2B and professional-services businesses only, for example software, insurance, consultancy and business services. If your buyers are consumers, we are not the right fit and will say so on the call.

  • Heads of SEO who can see AI answers moving and have no one to act on it
  • Digital marketing managers asked "does ChatGPT mention us?" by their board
  • Content leads who need the pages that answer buyer questions actually built
  • SMB and mid-market in-house teams of one to fifteen without an AEO analyst
  • UK agencies reselling AI visibility reporting to their own clients

Why now

  • 54% of UK adults now use AI tools such as ChatGPT, Copilot or Gemini, rising to 79% of 16 to 24 year olds.

Ofcom, UK adults' media and online lives revealed, 2 April 2026

  • US Google users clicked a traditional result on 8% of visits when an AI summary appeared, against 15% when it did not; only 1% clicked a source inside the summary (900 adults, 68,879 searches, March 2025).

FAQ

UK AI search visibility partner: common questions

Is AEOscore an agency or a software tool?
Both, and you can buy either half: the software scores your AI visibility and writes fix plans at £99 a month, and the done-for-you tier adds a named in-house expert who makes the fixes. Most UK rivals are one or the other: a dashboard, or an agency that resells one.
Do you outsource or offshore any of the implementation?
No, none of it. The technical and content work is done by the founder in Cheltenham, and the only third parties involved are the subprocessors listed on our security page: the AI engines we query, the servers the software runs on and the email service. If a job needs a skill he does not have, we say so rather than subcontract it quietly.
Which engines do you track, and why not more?
Six: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, on every tier. Between them they cover the chat assistants and Google's own AI answers; we add an engine when there is a reliable way to query it and evidence UK buyers use it, not to lengthen a logo strip.
What does the first month look like?
Week one is the prompt panel, access and the baseline scan, with any blocked crawler fixed the same week; weeks two to four are the first pages written or restructured and the listings requested. You get the first monthly report at the end of week four with every change logged and the first re-scan verdicts.
Do you fix schema markup?
Yes, as basic housekeeping: Organization, FAQPage and Article markup where it is missing or wrong. We will not sell it as an AI visibility lever, because it is not one; engines cite pages they can read and extract from, and schema on its own does not earn a citation.
Can we keep our existing tracker, such as Peec AI or Profound?
Yes, they sit side by side; a tracker's job is to report and ours is to change the answers, and a team can keep the tracker for its daily charts while we do the work. If the tracker and AEOscore disagree on a number, the difference is usually the prompts or the dates.
Do you work with agencies on a white-label basis?
Yes, for UK agencies reselling AI visibility: we run the scans, produce the report under your brand and, if you want it, do the fixes on your client's site, priced per client site on request. The client relationship stays yours.
Why should the implementation be UK-based?
Because the prompts, the sources and the buyers are UK ones: a UK specialist knows which directories, trade bodies and comparison sites the engines cite for UK queries, works in your hours, and can be on a call the same day. Offshore implementation can be cheaper and slower in exactly the places that matter here.

Quick answers

  • Is AEOscore a tool or an agency?

AEOscore is both: a UK AI visibility tool that scores how ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode answer your buyers' questions, and an in-house technical expert who fixes the gaps it finds on the done-for-you tier.

  • Who does the implementation work after the audit?

After an AEOscore audit the implementation is done by Olly, the named founder, in-house from Cheltenham on the done-for-you tier, or by your own team from the written fix plan on the software tiers.

  • What gets fixed after an AEO audit?

After an AEO audit the fixes are AI crawler access, llms.txt, page and content structure so answers are extractable, entity and internal linking, the third-party sources engines cite instead of you, and the wrong facts those sources repeat, with schema markup done as housekeeping only.
