Why it matters for AI visibility
Conversation changes the queries themselves. Nobody types AI visibility tool UK price into an assistant; a marketing manager asks which AI visibility tools work for a UK mid-market team on under £500 a month, then narrows by engines covered and whether anyone helps with the fixes. That means the questions worth measuring are longer, more specific and more commercial than classic keyword lists, and a business can win them by answering them plainly on its own pages. Prompt set size is the number of buyer questions a tool tracks on every scan. A mid-market B2B team usually needs 40 to 150 tracked prompts across category, comparison, pricing and best-X-for-Y questions, because conversational buyers ask far more variants than a keyword list contains. Conversation also compounds: an assistant that named you in the first answer tends to keep you in play as the user refines, while a business absent from the opening answer rarely enters later. Tracking visibility properly therefore means testing realistic conversational phrasings of buyer intent, not keywords, and writing content that survives the follow-ups: pricing, comparisons, suitability, the questions a buyer asks once they are seriously considering you.
