What is Hallucination?

Why it matters for AI visibility
Hallucinations about your business are reputational damage you cannot see without looking: a prospect hears a wrong price or a dead product line, quietly rules you out, and no complaint ever reaches you. They cluster where source material is weakest, so small businesses with thin, outdated web presences suffer more, and the errors persist because nobody is checking. The defences are practical rather than legal. Grounded engines correct quickly when authoritative sources improve, so publishing current, unambiguous facts about pricing, services and status on your own crawlable pages fixes many errors at the root. Monitoring closes the loop: regular scans that record what every engine actually says surface hallucinations while they are cheap to correct. Engines answering from training memory will lag your fixes, which is another reason the retrieval path, and being readable to search crawlers, matters commercially.

How AEOscore measures this
Because AEOscore records full answers, not just mention counts, factual errors about your business show up in the transcripts, and fixes can be tracked until the engines catch up.
